Calculate your zakat

Why there are two figures

The nisāb is classically given as 20 mithqāl of gold or 200 dirhams of silver. Converted to modern weights, that is 87.48 g of gold or 612.36 g of silver. AAOIFI and most Western zakat charities publish 85 g and 595 g instead — the same rule, a slightly different gram value for the historical coin weights.

The silver threshold is substantially lower, so it brings more payers into scope. Many contemporary scholars hold that the lower of the two governs cash holdings, on the grounds that it is more favourable to recipients. Rizq Trackr never picks for you: the calculator states which standard produced your figure and the gram weight it used.
